Flowers are placed on the altar in praise to God for all the saints – those past, present and those still to come – both in the church and in our lives who have been given to teach, correct, guide, edify, nourish, model, shepherd and show us God’s grace and love.

Moving Towards a Waste-Free World: The Climate Justice Action Group of the BC Synod is hosting a webinar on November 6 at 6:30 pm on the subject of zero-waste and the actions we can all take towards the goal of a zero-waste world. The Special Presenter will be Jennifer Helman, Program Coordinator at the “Recycling Council of BC”. See the poster that follows for all the details, and register here

Advent Album Release: The wait is over! You’re invited to join The Forest Archive and friends at St. Laurence Anglican Church on November 14th at 7:30 pm, as we take a musical journey through the themes of Advent and celebrate the release of this Jason’s new album! Always Waiting features 12 songs that range from the traditional to the contemporary, the communal to the personal, and include works both new and re-imagined for the Season of Advent. In what is so often a busy, frenetic, and distracting season, the music of Always Waiting invites listeners into an authentic posture of deep longing and prayerful expectancy, as we anticipate the Christmas mystery of God-with-us. See the poster that follows.

From Bricks to Branches: Growing God’s Mission: Good Shepherd is hosting a Synod Event on November 22 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, with Special Guest Katja Brittain to help the congregations of our Synod explore how our buildings can be assets for our communities. All are welcome. More details to follow. 

Building a More Affordable, Green & Climate-Ready City: There will be a morning workshop to help local residents understand what it means to advocate for a more affordable and climate-friendly city in light of proposed development pressures in Coquitlam. It is being presented by the TriCities Urban Forest Working Group, Burke Mountain Naturalists, & Wondrous Tree Fellowship. It will be held at St. Laurence Anglican Church on Saturday, November 29 from 8:30 am (registration) to 12:30 pm. More information to come.

BC Synod AGM: The Annual General Meeting of the BC Synod will take place on November 24, 2025 at 7?30 pm on Zoom. See poster that follows for more details.

Dear Church: ELCIC National Bishop Larry Kochendorfer has shared the first video in what he hopes to be a regular feature providing a glimpse into his ministry as National Bishop and that of the work of the National Office. 

Pastoral Letter from our ELCIC Bishops: The five Synod Bishops and our National Church Bishop have issued a Pastoral Letter to members of the ELCIC regarding an incident at our most recent National Convention. Read the full letter here.

Prayers for COP30: From November 10-21, the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, COP30, will be held in Belém, Brazil. The motto is Global Mutirão meaning collective efforts. Please hold this important event in your prayers, for a fruitful and meaningful result.

ELCIC & CLWR Renew Call for Peace: On the second anniversary of the war between Israel and Hamas, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) National Bishop Larry Kochendorfer and Canadian Lutheran World Relief Interim Executive Director Rev. Dr. Michael Pryse write to the church with heavy hearts as they, “continue to call urgently for a cessation of all violence in Israel and Palestine, an immediate release of hostages, and unhindered humanitarian access to those in critical need.” You can read the full letter here or on the bulletin board.

 ELCJHL Appeal: The ELCIC is launching an appeal to support the ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL). Our goal is to raise $50,000.
