First Sunday in Advent

We’re still a month away from the dreaded task of making New Years resolutions. But today is the first Sunday of the new church year. Maybe a good time to reflect on those ways we need to refresh our discipleship habits. Maybe stay awake more. Dream more. Love more. All interesting suggestions from our readings today. How will they change the way we live the year ahead?

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Christ the King Sunday

Today we have a wonderful and unique service planned for the last Sunday of the church year. We’ll be baptizing twins for starters. And then, at the end of the service, the congregation will join the choir to video-record a piece of music that will be posted on the Lutheran World Federation website for their Advent feature.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Its getting late in the church year. Just two more Sundays left. So maybe its natural for our scripture readings to focus on the theme of the end times. But that doesn’t make the subject of “the end” easier for us to hear. However, maybe it make Jesus’s words of hope in the midst of crisis stand out more. Can you hear them?

All Saints Sunday

Its All Saints Sunday. A Sunday we take to remember those people in our faith lives that have been a source of inspiration and who now rest in God’s eternal care. And how curious we are about what that heavenly care looks like! Maybe thats understandable. But Jesus wants to give us something different and more life-giving to reflect on when it comes to the life hereafter. Join us and listen in…

Reformation Sunday

Zacchaeus may have been a wee little man. But today he proclaims for us a huge and momentous truth about…housekeeping? Well sort of. At least not the kind of housekeeping that requires a dust rag and a mop. So join us today as we celebrate reformation from a different perspective.

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The coming reign of God will involve unexpected reversals of fortune with judgment rooted in mercy. Today we hear Jesus tell a parable in which the one who humbles himself is exalted and the one who exalts his own righteousness is humbled. Also, thanks to Pastor Tim for leading us in worship today, while Pastor Eric is away in meetings with the BC Synod.

Praise Appeal Sunday

We’ve heard life with God described in many ways. As a walk of faith. As a journey with Jesus. As resting in God’s love. But a wrestling match? Maybe that closer to the truth than we would care to admit sometimes. On this Sunday that we give thanks for and support the ministry of our National Church we explore this unconventional metaphor and the blessing it promises.

Fourth Sunday in the Season of Creation

What do you think it means to be content? I’m sure there are many answers to that question. Jesus tells us a story today that might make us re-think some of those answers. And he points to a vision of contentment that can be unsettling. At least for us, at first blush. But look a little closer and it may come into fuller view. And lead us into a deeper joy.
