Holy Trinity Sunday 2025

A Sunday like Holy Trinity that focusses on a theological doctrine maybe makes us think about truth. But to quote a famous Bible bad guy, “What is truth?” Is it eternal, written in stone, unchanging, and immutable? Or is it more dynamic, nimble, and responsive to our changing lives than that? We go back to hear Jesus’s last words to his disciples as he gives them one last lesson in the life of the Spirit of truth.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Seventh Sunday of Easter: Ascension of Our Lord

Up, up, and away! That’s usually what we think the story of Christ’s Ascension is all about. And in a sense it is. But it’s also a story that points us in some other directions. It asks us to look down and take notice of the place where we are planted. It asked us to look around at those with whom we share that place. And it points us forward to where God is calling us to go. Maybe it even asks us to look behind us to consider what exactly propels us forward on this journey of faith we’re on.

Sixth Sunday of Easter

What’s the one thing that gets in the way of you receiving new life and following Christ’s call? Maybe it isn’t just one thing. Our readings today give us a few options. And draw us back to the truth at the heart of this Easter season. We are a resurrection people. So what does that mean for life in a world as crazy as ours is right now?

Yard Sale!

Good Shepherd’s annual Yard Sale is happening this Saturday from 9am to 2pm! The sale is always a great opportunity to interact with the community and help raise money for some worthy causes. We appreciate any help you can provide.

Fifth Sunday in Easter

Praise the Lord! It’s a phrase that rolls off our tongue as Christians easily and (usually) joyfully. But is the tongue the only part of our body that is involved in giving praise? And is church the only place where praise is appropriate? And can praise even, at times, make us uncomfortable? Maybe there’s more to that pious little phrase than we realize, as our readings today teach us.

Fourth Sunday in Easter

This Sunday is often nicknamed “Good Shepherd Sunday” due to the abundance of shepherd images in our scripture readings. In our gospel Jesus speaks some of the purist words of gospel in the whole Bible… “My sheep hear my voice… I give them eternal life… No one will snatch them out of my hand.” Maybe they are also words that speak to one of our deepest fears. Is it true that nothing snatch us out of Jesus’s hand? Let’s talk.

Holy Hilarity Sunday – Third Sunday in Easter

The Bible may not be known for its humour. But it’s in there. Take the ridiculous details of our gospel reading today. Some of them are worthy of a Monty Python sketch. Perhaps even a sequel to the “Life of Brian”. Yet, underneath what appears like absurdity is a good news we might know in our heads, but find a hard time trusting. Especially in our times of shame and embarrassment. Let’s join Jesus on a beach as he serves up a breakfast of more than just bread and fish.

Second Sunday in Easter

Life is complicated. There’s a platitude for you! But it’s true. And our gospel reading today proves it. How else do you describe a story where people swing from joy to fear and belief to doubt all in the course of a single day. Sounds like par for the course for most of us actually. And into the confusion and tension Jesus speaks a single word…”Peace”.
