“Be on guard against all kinds of greed,” Jesus exhorts us today. That’s a lesson we know well. But not one that we practice nearly as faithfully. For which there may be many reasons. But Jesus tells a parable that highlights one of those reasons that couldn’t be more true for us today. One we are so often oblivious too even in our exercise of compassion.
