Neighbors and music lovers are invited to Music in the Park(ing Lot), a free family community event at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 1504 Sprice Ave. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, an outdoor lot will transform into a vibrant community hub. The gathering will be welcomed with a message from the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation with the goal of bringing residents together and spotlighting incredible local talent.
To ensure the afternoon is barrier-free for families, the event features a free BBQ lunch and dessert station. Food and treats are complimentary, though quantities are limited and will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Alongside the food, dedicated kids activities will run throughout the day to keep young children entertained.
The afternoon showcases a continuous, multi-genre live music lineup designed to appeal to every generation:
- Jazz: Smooth, intricate sounds from The Nikolaj Hansen Quartet.
- Folk: Heartfelt, community-driven acoustic melodies from Yvon Malenfant & Friends.
- Rock: A high-energy, nostalgic classic rock finale from Gift Shop – The Ultimate Tribute to the Tragically Hip.

Admission is entirely free and walk-ins are completely welcome! However, registering helps our volunteers estimate food quantities so we don’t run out of hot dogs on the grill.
