Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today’s sermon comes to us from Rev. Dr. Sid Haugen, Bishop of the Saskatchewan Synod. It is based on Luke’s gospel story of sisters Martha and Mary. Usually it is told as the story of Martha, who is judged for being too busy with work, and Mary who is commended for taking time to worship. But as Rev. Dr. Sid Haugen explains, this story has many layers. In our sermon today, he invites us to spend time in Martha’s kitchen and to take time to sit at the feet of Jesus and hang on every word.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Church Picnic Under The Trees

Today we will be holding our worship service outside on our yard at 10:30 am, assuming weather permits. This means that we will not be live-streaming today’s service. We will also be hosting a picnic following the service, which will also be held outside if the weather cooperates.

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Mission is a word we’re familiar with as Christians. We use it a lot. And we may have heard (and even believe) that every Christian is called to be a missionary in their own way. But what does that mean? Well, Jesus gives us some instructions today. But instructions that maybe sound unlike our usual understanding of what it means to be a missionary. Let’s listen in.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Tree Wrapping – July 9

All are invited to a community event in our yard on July 9 from 1-3 pm. We will be joined by environmental artist Sylvie Roussels-Janssens who will be working with those in attendance to create colourful and creative tree warps for trees in our mini-forest, adding some beauty to our community.

There will be a couple of other artistic activities to join as well as music by the folk band “Beyond Flannel,” ice cream snacks, and an opportunity to meet neighbours. Everything is free and open to all ages. We hope you’ll join us. Please call or email the office with any questions.

Five trees with colorful wraps around the trunks.

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Demons. There’s a topic that will stop any conversation cold. And yet we all have them. So maybe the conversation we really need to have is what we’re doing with them. And what might God have to say about that. Off we go to the land of the swineherds!

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

The Holy Trinity Sunday

So, Holy Trinity Sunday. The only special day in the church calendar that celebrates a theological doctrine. God as one and yet three, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Maybe makes us wonder if those who made up the calendar were just trying to keep seminary professors happy. Or maybe there’s more to this Holy Trinity talk than meets the eye, or the ear. Come along and join the dance!

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Ascension of Our Lord

Heads up!… That’s a bad Ascension Day joke. A really bad Ascension Day joke. But this day itself is no joke, as obscure as it might be to most Christians. So what can it mean for us today that Jesus ascended to the Father? Maybe the answer lies, once again, with those slow-witted disciples. Just what do they have to teach us this time?
