Second Sunday of Christmas

Does it feel like a new year yet? Maybe not so much. Even our gospel reading today is one we heard a mere 8 days ago. Although it certainly does speak to us about newness. Maybe in a way we often miss in the midst of everything going on around us this time of year (especially THIS year). Let’s explore what this beautiful, mysterious, and intriguing reading from John still has to say to us right now.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

The bulletin for the service can be downloaded here.

We regret these last minute changes but pray that you will be blessed with the joy of the good news of our saviour’s birth.

Fourth Sunday in Advent

On this Sunday that we hear Mary praise the gift to the world of the child growing in her womb, we enjoy the creative gifts of our congregation, and especially the artistic gifts of our kids as they proclaim the good news of great joy through their Christmas (un)Pageant.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Third Sunday in Advent

Where do we find joy when our life feels far from joyful? John the Baptist points us in an unlikely direction today. Towards a God of fiery judgement. How does that make sense? Our gospel for this Third Sunday of Advent – Joy Sunday – holds the key.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Second Sunday in Advent

We all know that Advent is a time to prepare. There’s no end to the voices around us these days reminding us of that. But the voice in our gospel reading today may be the strangest. It’s not calling us to buy something, or bake something, or send something. It’s calling us to take on some landscaping work. And how is that good news? Join us.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

First Sunday in Advent

On this first Sunday of the new church year Jesus’s words in our gospel reading today have more to say about endings than beginnings. Or maybe they are just the words that people like us, living in-between the beginning and the end need to hear? Advent is calling! Let us enter with hope and anticipation.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Christ the King Sunday

Today we celebrate Christ the King. We have a special guest with us this week. Carolyn Klaassen is an Indigenous theologian and leader here in the BC Synod. She grew up Lutheran, and in the recent years has began to discover her Ojibway roots. Carolyn will share her story with us. She will also join in leading worship, introducing traditional Indigenous elements to our liturgy.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

The bulletin for the service can be downloaded here.

Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we celebrate a baptism, feast at the Lord’s Supper, and hear Jesus warn us about the end-times. How much more fun can one Sunday hold! 🙂

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.
