All Saints Sunday

What is a saint? “Saint” is just another name for a baptized child of God. If you’ve been baptized, you’re a saint! You don’t have to do anything to earn the name or prove you deserve it. So today we give thanks for God’s promise in baptism that makes us saints, and for all those saints we have known and loved and who now rest in God’s loving an eternal care. And we hear a story about what that eternal and loving care means.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Reformation Sunday

Forgetfulness is something most of us try hard to avoid. But when is being forgetful the best news we could ever hear? Join us on this Reformation Sunday as we celebrate the good news Martin Luther rediscovered for the church of Jesus Christ…and a few of our youth affirming their baptisms to boot!

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Life’s a journey. We’ve all heard that. And Jesus travels with us all along. But can we hear him? Maybe thats a matter of learning to recognize his voice. Today we hear our youth speak about their journey with Jesus this past summer and hear a sermon from our retiring bishop Greg Mohr that can help us with that learning.

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Praise Appeal Sunday)

What do baptism, happy beaches, and giving praise have in common? They’re all part of our worship on this “Praise Appeal Sunday”. Join us as we enjoy a day full or water, promises, wonderful music, and an opportunity to be generous.

We are blessed to have The Springmans provide music for our service!

Fifth Sunday in Season of Creation

When we think about champions in the fight against climate change we usually think first of scientists and activists. We probably don’t think often of poets. Maybe then, on this Sunday that we celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assissi, who wrote one of the most famous hymns to creation, we need to think twice about the power of poetry. Join us in that reflection on Fifth and final Sunday in the Season of Creation.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Fourth Sunday in Season of Creation

“Thoughts and prayers” have taken a bad rap in recent days. Especially when it comes to a problem as imposing as climate change, prayer hardly feels like an effective response. On second thought…join us on this Fourth Sunday in the Season of Creation to explore prayer as a weapon in the fight for our climate.

Today’s worship service will available in-person (to those who have registered), and will also be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Third Sunday in Season of Creation

What the heck is an “oikos”? And what does it have to do with saving the earth? Or with Jesus and his clueless band of disciples? So many questions. Join us as we seek some answers and go deeper into the Season of Creation.

Today’s worship service will available in-person (to those who have registered), and will also be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Second Sunday in Season of Creation

“Where’s your mind at?” Maybe thats a question you’ve been asked before. It’s what Jesus as much as asks Peter in our gospel reading today. And it’s a good question for us to be asking as we continue our journey through the Season of Creation and reflect on our discipleship as stewards of creation.

Today we welcome back in person those who have registered to attend; may this be the first step in our return to full fellowship in the very near future.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

First Sunday in Season of Creation

On this Sunday of Labour Day weekend we hear a reflection from one of our members on the connection between her life’s work and her faith. It’s also the First Sunday of the Season of Creation. And so we reflect on the work we’ve all been given to care for creation and make this world a home for all in which to dwell and flourish.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Then later in the afternoon we are holding a fun and creative event in recognition of the Season of Creation! You’re invited to join us at the church this Sunday afternoon to make creation-themed chalk art on the parking lot. You can also colour a picture to add to one of three new beautiful SOC banners Claire Thompson has created. And of course…there will be treats! Bring a mask and drop in any time between 2-4. Stay as long as you like and let your creative spirit soar!
