Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

Questions. Conundrums. Mysteries. Our gospel reading today has them all…with a healthy dose of good news thrown into the mix as well. Join us as we reflect on what it means to live as disciples in a world where answers are sometimes impossible to find.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

The bulletin for the service can be downloaded here.

Mid-Week Worship

This Wednesday, August 18, at 7:30 pm, Pastor Eric and Elina will be leading another mid-week outdoor worship service. This will be an opportunity to gather for in-person worship under the beauty of our trees. We will follow a very informal liturgy which Elina has put together. All are welcome.

Bring a mask and a lawn chair (if you have one). Chairs will be provided for those who don’t have one.

Feast of Mary, Mother of our Lord

This week we are taking a short break from the gospel of John and Jesus’s teachings about bread, and celebrating the feast day of Mary, the mother of our Lord. We are not wandering too far, though. Today’s gospel text is Mary’s song that gives glory to God who is on the side of the hungry and the poor, who has brought down the powerful and lifted up the lowly. Join us to wonder what Mary’s song means in our time.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week is another installment of what is called the bread of life discourse – a five week time when the gospel readings are from the sixth chapter of John, and all about bread. Two weeks ago Jesus fed a huge crowd with five loaves and two fish. And now he’s teaching more about bread.

What do we mean when we say Jesus is the bread of life? What does it mean to those who don’t know where their next meal will come from, and when? What does it mean to those who do not know what hunger feels like?

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today there will be no service from Good Shepherd. You can be a worship tourist and visit another ELCIC church from the following list complied by our National Office:
https://www.elcic.ca/publichealth/livestreaming.cfm

As one possibility you could take in the service at Trinity, Delta. They don’t live stream their Sunday service but they record it and post it after to the YouTube channel here:

Or if you’d like to join another Krushel-led service you could take in the service from my brother Brian’s congregation, Faith Lutheran in Kelowna. They have pre-recorded a service which includes a sermon from the bishop of the Manitoba-Northwestern Ontario synod, Jason Zinko. You can find the service by visiting their YouTube channel here:

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today we read the story of Jesus’s miracle of feeding the 5,000 with five loaves and two fish. Maybe one of the most astounding of Jesus’s miracles. And yet, perhaps also one of the most important for the future of the church.  So join us as we listen, worship, praise, and partake of the miracle of Jesus feeding us in the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

The bulletin for the service can be downloaded here.

Midweek Outdoor Worship

This Wednesday, July 21, at 7:30 pm, Pastor Eric and Elina will be leading the first of four mid-week outdoor worship times. This will be an opportunity to gather for in-person worship under the beauty of our trees. We will follow a very informal liturgy which Elina has put together. Think of it as church picnic without the picnic!

Bring a mask and a lawn chair (if you have one). Chairs will be provided for those who don’t have one.

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Compassion is one of qualities we most value in human beings. It’s also one of the qualities we most associate with Jesus. But do we ever stop to think about what the compassion of Jesus really means or what it looks like? Join us for worship as we reflect on that question and hear some of the most cherished verses in scripture.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

We all know how politicians take a bad rap for changing their minds and flip-flopping on the issues of the day. But when it comes to discipleship, can changing our minds sometimes be the most faithful thing we can do? We explore that question in worship today in light of one of the most disturbing stories in all of scripture.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.
