The Night Circus – Special Event

Mark your calendars!

We at Good Shepherd invite you to a special event on February 19 at 7:00 pm for an evening of enchanting harp music. Admission will be by donation with the proceeds going to 3030 Gordon and Tri-Cities Homelessness Shelter.

The event is a harp concert featuring Bess Lu, a Vancouver-based harpist who has performed with the renowned Winter Harp ensemble. She’ll be performing a program she has created and which includes her own composition called “The Night Circus” accompanied by her husband Rob Muir as narrator for the poetry.

If you are unable to join us in person you can watch the event through our live-stream by clicking here. In that case, we encourage you to make an online donation to the 3030 Gordon Tri-Cities homeless shelter by clicking here and choosing “3030 Gordon Shelter and Housing” from the drop down menu in the “Additional Information” field.

Sixth Sunday in Epiphany

Anger. Lust. Conflict. Deceit. It sounds like a trailer for the latest Netflix drama series. But its actually the themes of our gospel reading today. A reading that can feel sometimes like a punch in the gut. But what if there’s more to Jesus’s words here than meets the ear? Join us as we take one last swing through the Sermon ion the Mount.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Fifth Sunday in Epiphany

Salt and light. Two things that make for life as we know it. And that’s what Jesus calls us today. But it’s one thing to be salt and light, it’s another thing to do what salt and light do. So what causes that disconnect? And what makes Jesus think we are capable of living into these identifiers of our life of faith? Join us, as we continue our journey through the Sermon on the Mount.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Fourth Sunday in Epiphany

We all know how the Christian life can be filled with questions. And occasionally we even get an answer. Although some of the answers we get might make us wonder if it isn’t better to just keep struggling with the questions. We explore one of those answers in our gospel reading today.

Also, just a reminder that our Annual Congregational Meeting is happening today. We will start as close to noon as possible.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Third Sunday in Epiphany

We live in a time where switching sides is generally looked down on. A politician who crosses the floor to join another party. A favourite athlete who leaves his fans to play for a different team. All are often seen as traitors on some level. So what is Jesus doing telling us to switch sides today? Its a little puzzling. But it just might hold the key to our Prayer for Christian Unity which we pray today.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Hey everyone, this is just a reminder that today we will celebrate the eve of Epiphany with a return to our beloved tradition of Soup and Sing. Join us at 6 pm for a dinner of soup and bread, followed at 7 pm by Holden Evening Prayer. We also invite you to bring leftover Christmas baking to share for dessert.

The service will also be live streamed on our YouTube channel for those who are interested.

Name of Jesus and Favourite Carols

What’s in a name? Quite a bit actually. Especially when you have several of them. Today we celebrate the festival of the Name of Jesus by reflecting on a few of the other names that he’s been given. And exploring how much the various names of Jesus can speak volumes for us and our lives.

Just a note: our worship service today will be held at 11 AM. Please don’t forget to take a little extra time in the morning. Also, today we will enjoy a service of favourite carols by request.
