First Sunday in Lent

Evil is a reality as old as the human race. And it takes many forms. From the brutality of the Ukraine crisis to the everyday temptations we face. And underneath every form evil is a nest of lies. Evil works by telling lies. So what does Jesus have to say to us about the battle with evil and its lies? Today we head out into the wilderness with Jesus to hear the voice of truth.

Transfiguration of Our Lord

Today we celebrate the ministry of Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) a wonderful organization that does amazing work on our behalf around the world. Work thats needed now more than ever in light of the horrifying events of this past week in Europe. And so we pray for CLWR and we pray for peace and order to be restored in our world. And we hear words of hope from our scriptures. Lord have mercy.

Seventh Sunday after Epiphany

“Love your enemies.” Words we’ve all heard. Words we hardly ever live by. And who can blame us. They sound crazy, unrealistic, and completely contrary to common sense. So maybe we should pay less attention to the words and more attention to who’s speaking them. Jesus of course. And what he’s using these words to point us towards. Join us as we continue to wrestle with Jesus’s most challenging sermon.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Sixth Sunday After Epiphany

In our gospel reading this week we hear Jesus pronouncing both blessings and woes…blessings on some and woes on others. It all sounds slightly un-Jesus like. Unless our understanding of Good News could use a little expanding. Worship with us and find out.

Today’s worship service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel at 10:30 am. Join us live, or watch the video here at a later time.

Fifth Sunday After Epiphany

Saying goodbye can be tough. Even when it feels like you’ve only just said hello. Today we say farewell to Student Pastor Elina who has served with us for the last 16 months. But while her time with us has run out, Jesus talks to us today about that living water he gives that never runs out. Good news even in the midst of sadness. Join us for worship!

Fourth Sunday after Epiphany

It’s been said that one sign of true maturity is being able to take criticism well. And so it is. But we all know that some criticism can cut a little too deep and touch nerves that we don’t ever want touched. Jesus touches one of those nerves in the people of his hometown congregation today in our gospel with nearly disastrous consequences. But for us this story can be the open door to a more mature understanding of what it means to be disciples. Join us for worship and some fruitful self-examination.
